One of the most used spaces in our house is the kitchen. We spend so much time in it every day that it’s normal to feel like you need a revamp.
Here’s a list of kitchen design ideas to get you started.
Try a palette using different shades or tones of one color
Use different shades of one color to create a cohesive color theme for your kitchen. If you find neutral colors bland, you can explore one color and try mixing light and dark shades of a stain.
This way you can find a balance. The photo above shows a beautiful kitchen with a light blue-gray wall while the kitchen cabinets feature a gray finish with blue undertones. Through this method, you can keep the kitchen neutral and still make a visual impact.
Make it pop with bold colors
Make your kitchen more exciting and appealing with statement pieces or an accent wall. Pick a color that’s bold enough to be noticed when put against the rest of your kitchen space. To avoid visual clutter, try to keep the rest of the furniture light and simple.
It’s a fun way to incorporate colors you like without going overboard. It also makes it easier for you to redecorate and change your palette every now and then without having to replace everything, apart from a few pieces or one wall.
Not sure where to start? Try a printed rug or colorful crockery that’s sure to draw attention to your dining set. If you’re feeling more adventurous, experiment with bold colored cabinets or a bright wallpaper facing the guest area.
Go with a functional light fixture
Good basic lighting around the kitchen is essential for everyday tasks. Aside from that, it doesn’t hurt to add a few accents that are more decorative than functional.
Adding a warm light in the counter created shadows and depth to your space, giving off a more luxe feel.
If you have a kitchen island, you most probably also already have hanging lights above it. This is another fun way to incorporate more sophisticated designs. A nice lamp can complement the design of your kitchen whether it’s lighting your way through the night or turned off during the daytime.
Be creative with storage solutions
Limited kitchen space can also limit your creativity around the kitchen. With many folks opting to go smart rather than huge with their home spaces, it’s important to utilize every foot of the room, and that includes vertical space!
It’s always smart to create hidden storage too, for items that aren’t too pretty when exposed think chips packets and leftovers. If you run out of drawer and cupboard space, try leaving out a few things for a more rustic look, such as fresh produce and uniform jars. It makes your kitchen look homier, anyway!
Experiment with your backsplash
Another way to incorporate accent into your kitchen design is by being creative with the backsplash. A great option to consider is a patterned tile that endures varying temperatures, resists stain, easy to clean, and is easy to customize according to your aesthetic! If you worry about cost, remember that you don’t even have to cover the entire wall, the wall behind your countertop is enough and will provide a nice contrast against the wall of the entire room.
